Our History

The first organizational meeting of the new Palos Verdes Lutheran Mission was held on January 14, 1962 The first service was held the following week, and the 43 faithful people attended this service led by the Rev. Harold Kupke, an instructor at the Lutheran High School of Los Angeles. Charter Day, the official founding of the congregation was on September 15, 1963. The new church building at 5975 Armaga Spring Road, Palos Verdes Peninsula was dedicated on Ash Wednesday, February 23, 1966.

At the present the Rev. Mark Brighton, Professor of Theology at Concordia University, Irvine is serving as our interim pastor while we are in the process of searching for a new permanent pastor that will guide our congregation into our golden decade.
